Jean Jacket

I was so inspired by Free People’s new campaign, #FPBFF, that I just had to follow my DIY-instinct to make my own.

The jean jackets that Free People is giving away, as a part of this campaign, are so beautiful. As soon as I saw the photos I thought, “Hey! I can totally make that!” I immediately headed down to my local second-hand store and bought the denim jacket I am wearing below for only $15. I took it home and let my DIY-skills spill onto my canvas. Chanelle Number One//Fashion + Lifestyle Blog

The rest of it was complete impulse (which is so fun!). Do you ever get so overwhelmed with excitement and creative juices pulsing through your body that you feel the need to begin crafting your idea right that instant? This was one of those scenarios for me. To me, this jacket represents my love for the Pacific North West (#PNW). As I will likely be moving away from my side of the U.S. for work reasons soon, I thought this DIY was perfect. I styled the jacket with a delicate and flowy white lace blouse and my new favorite booties from, who other than, Free People. I encourage everyone to follow their inspiration. If you are passionate or excited about something, explore that! Don’t be afraid to try something new, take a risk, and then fail miserably! This is true for me with my style. If I like the way an outfit looks, I’m going to wear it whether it’s “in style” or not. I think that’s what’s so cool about fashion. Trying new styles, trends, accessories, and new ways to wear pieces you already have in your closet is fashion! In fact, if I’m not constantly switching things up in my personal style, I’m bored. So, go for it! If everyone stuck with what they’d always worn and the world had no risk takers or DIY-inspiration-followers, there would be no new styles or trends. It must start somewhere! I thrifted these pants for under $10, hence why I have a love affair with thrifting.

I convinced my little brother to wake up at 5:30 AM so we could have sunrise lighting for this beach shoot and I am oh-so-glad that he agreed 🙂 I’ll miss the beach hair and the sunshine most. Laters, San Diego!

  1. I always loved wearing my levis jean jacket with 501’s! I thought it was so great, with all my pins and buttons with silly sayings and rock bands! But THISis so adorable! You are so creative and clever, I think I might have to start having you style me! 😉
